Jose Victor Reyna (born August 16, 1990, in San Antonio, Texas), known as Joe Vic Reyna is a Latin Cumbia/Tejano artist. He is the son of Florinda Reyna and David Reyna. He spent his childhood on a ranch in Pearsall, Texas where he would listen to Tejano Music Legends like Little Joe, Roberto Pulido, Los Aguilares and many more. Being the only sibling of four to take interest in music, he began learning the basic education of the saxophone in a six-grade school of his hometown. After being introduced to the music and style of cumbia artist Fito Olivares, at the age of 12 this Pearsall native began developing a name for himself. He graduated from Pearsall High School in 2008 and continued his schooling at the University of Texas San Antonio for Business Management.

Career

In 2002 he began playing with different local groups trying to make a name for himself in the music industry. This caused attention to him throughout his hometown and began getting asked to play at certain performances such as: school pep rallies, funerals, weddings, small bars, etc. In 2008 he got the opportunity of a lifetime and was asked to perform a song with “La Pura Sabrosura de Fito Olivares.” Being inspired by this performance, Joe Vic Reyna y Los Kumbacheros was born in 2010 in Pearsall after he released and composed his first album El Kumbachero. It was recorded under the label Prodigy Records. In 2013 he recorded his second album Cumbias Sin Fronteras also under Prodigy Records. That same year he landed a nomination at the Tejano Music Awards for “Best New Male Artist.” In 2020 he recorded his single “Ya No Te Quiero a Ti” under the label Discos Solcar. In 2021 he started his own recorded label JVR RECORDS. Through his record label he recorded and composed one of his biggest hits, “La Cuarentena.” Joe Vic continues his independent music career under JVR RECORDS and since has released his first Ranchera single “Carino Santo.” Though Joe Vic’s focus is Los Kumbacheros he does currently play for Jaime Olivares (brother of Fito Olivares). Joe Vic has been nominated for “Best New Male Artist” at the TEJANO MUSIC AWARDS. “Best Tejano Group” and “Best Male Vocalist” of the year at the San Antonio ALL STAR AWARDS and “Best Cumbia Group” at the Houston GUADALUPE AWARDS.
